Three Delicious Dry Rub Chicken Recipes

Posted on: 4 December 2015

When it comes to wings, some prefer them saucy, while others prefer a dry rub. If you fall into the dry rub camp, you'll love these flavorful chicken wing recipes which can be made in the oven. Mix up a batch or two the next time you're feeling like wings but don't feel like battling the crowd at your local restaurant.

Spicy Chili Ginger Wings

If you like a hint of spice without overwhelming fire, try these chili ginger wings. They take less than an hour to make, and the recipe makes enough for about 4 people.

Ingredients:

  • 4 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Mix the spices together in a small bowl. Pat them onto the wings, making sure that you coat them evenly. Drizzle a baking sheet with the olive oil, and place the wings on top. Bake at 375 degrees F for 35 - 45 minutes or until wings are crispy and brown, turning over once during cooking.

Garlic and Parmesan Wings

Those who don't like spicy wings will enjoy this mild, yet scrumptious alternative. The trick is to slow roast these wings at a lower temperature so the cheese does not burn.

Ingredients:

  • 4 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Mix together the garlic, salt, pepper and Parmesan cheese. Pat the mixture onto the chicken wings. Drizzle a pan with the olive oil, and place the wings on top. Bake at 325 F for 1 hour or until the wings are golden brown. Turn over once during cooking.

Dry Teriyaki Wings

Plan ahead if you want to make these flavorful wings, as they have to marinate for 4 hours before being coated with a dry rub. The recipe makes enough for a crowd, so it's great for parties.

Ingredients:

  • 8 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 cup Teriyaki marinade
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper

Combine the Teriyaki sauce, olive oil and brown sugar in a large container with a lid. Add the chicken wings, and turn them over to ensure they are all exposed to the liquid. Place the container in the fridge to marinate for 4 hours.

Remove the wings from the fridge, and discard the excess marinade. Mix the spices together, and pat them onto the wings. Spread the wings out on baking sheets (you will need at least 2) and bake at 375 F for 35 - 45 minutes or until the wings are brown and crispy. Turn them over once during cooking.
