Three Ways To Get The Most Out Of Your Online Food Order

Posted on: 31 August 2016

Online food ordering is the ultimate convenience. Whether it's a day when you want to stay in your pajamas or maybe impress a special guest with a premade, homemade dish – online ordering can help you. Although online ordering isn't exactly anything new, there are a handful of tips you can apply to ensure you get the most out of your online ordering experience. Here are just some of them.

Experiment Another Time

No matter how adventurous you are when it comes to food, when ordering your food online, this isn't always the best time to experiment. If you've been to the restaurant previously, stick with a selection you're already familiar or at the very least something you know you would like.

When you experiment, you run the risk of getting all the way home or having the food delivered to your home, only to find out that the dish isn't really something you actually like, no matter how well prepared it is. Experiment with the menu when you're dining in so that you can ask your server questions.

Plan Ahead

Ordering food online is a great way to beat the crowds. However, you need to understand that when the restaurant is busy, the online ordering wait time may also be slower than normal. For instance, during the evening hours, it might be harder to place an order and expect it to be ready right away, given the dinner crowd.

If you're planning a family dinner or have someone coming over and need dinner by a certain time, make sure you are planning accordingly. The best way to do this is to contact the restaurant directly to find out what their typical busy hours are and to find out just how soon in advance you need to order if you want to have the food ready by a particular time.

Don't Forget To Tip

If you're having your online order delivered, don't forget to tip the driver. Although the delivery driver might not be giving you the same level of service as a server, they are still working hard to serve you. Understand that any delivery fees charged are not considered a tip from the driver.

When tipping a driver, take into account the cost of the food you ordered as well as the effort the driver had to exert to bring it to you. For example, if the elevator in your building was broken and the driver had to walk up several flights of stairs to bring your food, it's okay to add a little extra.

Although there is no wrong or right way to order food online, following these tips will definitely improve your experience.
